Pilgrim High School Choir needs your support.

In years past, the Pilgrim HS Choir has been able to raise enough money to send the Choir on trips to Europe to perform at venues like St. Peter’s Cathedral and the Vatican. This year they are having trouble raising the needed money.

The choir has tried unsuccessfully this year to raise the needed funds. It is not that they haven't given it their all. The have run into a problem with fundraising due to the fact that the Chartwells contract has hindered their efforts. The choir planned to have an ice cream social fundraiser for six weeks but had to close down after 2 weeks and raising $130 on average each week due to a conflict with the contract.

During the last School Committee meeting, I, as a member of the public and not yet a School Committee Member, asked Mr. Frank Esposito to help the schools create a list of approved, healthy, non-competitive food items that the groups who are suffering as a result of the contract would be able to use for fundraising. Mr. Esposito responded affirmatively to working with the schools to find a solution to working within the contract to help school groups find needed funds. Mr. Esposito agreed to come up with a list of approved, healthy, non-competitive food items that the group would be able to use for fundraising. I would like to thank Mr. Esposito for helping with the creation of the list. I know that Chartwells is commited to helping the community and I know they will help the students. (There is a link below to a story of Chartwell's generousity.)

In the meantime, while a new strategy for fundraising is in the works, it does not help the choir at this time.

The Pilgrim Choir needs your help to save the annual planned trip abroad to sing in Belgium and the Netherlands over February vacation.

I am asking you to please donate. As we have all read in the paper, this year will be a difficult one for our schools. The children need our help again.

If 200 people donate $10 each, this trip can happen for the children. If you are interested in helping through a donation, a check should be made out to the Pilgrim High School Choir and sent to the attention of:

JoAnn Phillips, Director at Pilgrim High School, 111 Pilgrim Parkway, Warwick, RI 02888.
